Product Overview
Ultrasonic sensors operate by emitting high-frequency sound waves toward the liquid surface. These waves reflect off the liquid surface and return to the sensor, where the time of flight is measured and converted into a precise level reading. The measurement is highly accurate and reliable, even in challenging environments with turbulent water, foam, or vapor. Outputs from the sensor are typically 4–20 mA, HART, Modbus RTU, or other digital protocols, allowing seamless integration with SCADA systems for real-time visualization, alarm generation, and process automation.
In water treatment plants, ultrasonic level sensors are installed at raw water storage tanks, treated water reservoirs, clarifiers, and sludge holding tanks. SCADA systems use the continuous level data to automate pump start/stop sequences, manage chemical dosing based on tank levels, and prevent overflow conditions. Historical level data collected by SCADA supports trend analysis, process optimization, and compliance reporting, ensuring efficient plant operation. Modern sensors also provide diagnostic features, such as echo strength monitoring, signal quality indication, and alarm flags, which improve reliability and reduce maintenance requirements
